Technical and presentation guidance notes

These pages are best viewed in screen mode 1024*768 maximised, 16 bit hicolor using Internet Explorer 4.0 or better which supports Java, css and table functions.

Default fonts have been restricted to the most common available to all web browsers ie:- 'Arial', 'Times New Roman' and 'Courier New'. Default text size is "Medium".

Hover is colour blue which, at hover, over writes to white on blue or brown.


Names

The site is changing to use capital letters for surnames. For example: Leslie Crompton BLACKMAN. In some instances upper case letters are used for the first name and family name only. All middle names begin with lower case. For example: Leslie crompton Blackman: where crompton is an ancestral family name, and is often referred to in the familiar Leslie crompton or Leslie Crompton, without his Blackman family name.


Icon links

A selection of custom icons have been used which link to additional information pages with a blue background. This opens in a new window, over the existing window, so that both may be viewed at the same time. For viewers with Internet Explorer4 or earlier it replaces previous window.
